Design and Fabrication of Drain-Proof Solar PV Array

The solar PV array was specifically designed to be installed over the building slab with an integrated rainwater management and drain-proofing mechanism. The system was engineered so that the PV modules functioned as an effective overhead roof structure, preventing rainwater from dripping through the gaps between the panels and onto the slab below. To achieve this configuration, a robust mounting structure incorporating heavy-duty aluminium rails and specially designed drainage arrangements was developed to ensure structural stability, weather protection, and controlled rainwater discharge. This approach provided an aesthetically integrated solution while maximizing the available roof area for solar energy generation. The complete PV mounting arrangement was developed through detailed 3D modelling and engineering simulations to verify the structural configuration and installation requirements. The final design was subsequently implemented and successfully installed, tested, and commissioned before being handed over to the client. The project demonstrates an innovative approach to solar PV array design, combining renewable energy generation with functional roof protection and effective rainwater management.
