Energy Auditing Session with Building Services Students at KDU

This project was carried out as part of the ongoing academic lectures and practical training conducted by the Founder and Managing Director of the company, Eng. Akmal Gunasekara, in collaboration with third-year students of the Building Services Engineering programme at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. As part of the study, the electrical energy consumption patterns of the premises were systematically monitored and recorded using power quality analysers and data loggers. The collected data was analysed to develop the load profile of the facility and determine key electrical performance parameters, including peak demand, load characteristics, and power factor. Based on the analysis, the study evaluated the requirement for power factor correction and identified potential opportunities for improving the efficiency and performance of the electrical distribution network. Recommendations were subsequently developed to optimize energy utilization, reduce unnecessary electrical losses, improve system efficiency, and enhance the overall energy performance of the premises.
